The One Exam Schedule A1 Mistake That Every Beginner Makes

Goethe-Zertifikat A1 (Start German 1) Exam Schedule

The official list below lists the time slots that are reserved - not exams that have been confirmed. Check with your instructor if a course has its final exam during this period.

Before registering, make sure to review the Goethe exam guidelines and terms and conditions that appear on each exam page. Register for the correct level of the exam.

Locations

The Exam Schedule lists locations where DEP conducts operator certification tests. Check out the individual exam pages for more information regarding exam content, exam terms and conditions, and other guidelines. If you require special accommodations due to a chronic illness, visual or hearing impairment, you should contact the exam provider directly and be sure to provide a detailed document at the time of registration.

Faculty can find their exam times via the "View My Teaching Schedule" task on the Faculty Dashboard in Workday. Additionally the Registrar's Office has a list of exam times for classes where an exam is required by NYSED regulations. For evening classes final exams are scheduled during the normal class time during the final week of exams.

Please note that this Projected University Examination Schedule should only be used as a reference. The final exam dates may be subject to change.

Registration

The exam schedule is available online, and students are advised to consult it. It is important to remember that the final schedule of exams may be altered at any time. Students should therefore inquire with their instructors to confirm the exact time and date of their test. Students should also print the official list to take with them to their exam.

Students must also familiarize themselves with the guidelines and conditions of the exam in addition to the exam schedule. They are available on the individual exam pages. Students acknowledge having read and agreed to the terms and conditions upon registration.

Exam locations make every effort to accommodate participants with special needs. The nature and extent of these needs should be declared on the registration and verified by a doctor's attestation. The locations for the exam must be able to respect confidentiality and keep it.

If a student has three examinations scheduled for the same day it is recommended that they contact their department or instructor to schedule an alternate exam. While it is possible to take three tests in one day, this can cause an increase in stress levels and impact the quality of the exam. Additionally, the instructor may not be able to offer a makeup exam on a different day.

Before taking the test, students must prepare by studying their study material and practicing their German skills. The test is a paper-based test that measures the ability to read, speak and write in German. The results of the examination are reported using a scale from A1 to C2. Students who succeed in passing the test are awarded a Goethe-Zertifikat. The certificate confirms that the student has reached language level A1. This level is the first level of the six-level scale of competence laid out in the Common European Framework of Reference for Foreign Languages. The test is free. Students are required to bring an official government ID to the examination. Anyone who does not have a valid photo identification will be disqualified.

Fees

You'll need to pay an examination fee for the opportunity to receive the Goethe-Zertifikat (start German 1) after you have completed your Elan Academy studies. This is in addition to the course fee.

Practice assessments provide you with an overview of the style and wording, as well as the difficulty of questions on the exam. They help you evaluate your knowledge level, find gaps in your knowledge and increase your chances of passing the test.
